Areas of Practice
Commercial General & Product Liability
Coverage for Bodily Injury & Property
Damage, Products, Personal & Advertising Injury, Medical Payments; it should be noted that a primary limiting factor on General Liability insurance is that the coverage mainly applies to "BODILY INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE" to
others. Commercial General Liability policies typically exclude coverage for claims arising from financial or business losses, and more specifically, those arising from alleged professional, advisory, or management negligence, errors and omissions (refer to Professional Liability section below).
workers compensation & employers liability
Statutory Workers Compensation benefits (required in PA of all employers) for work related injury and Employers Liability which provides coverage for work injury lawsuits or claims that
do not fall within the no-fault Workers Compensation statute. Classification Reviews, Payroll Reviews, Experience Modification Rating reviews.
directors & officers/management liability (public entity, private or non profit)
Coverage for board actions and decisions that
affect the direction of the company, particularly when the direction of the company results in financial loss to others. Note that the main insuring agreement in General Liability ("GL") excludes D&O liability. The main GL insuring
agreement protects only against liability arising from "Bodily Injury and Property Damage"; D&O losses typically do not arise from Bodily Injury or Property Damage.
commercial property
Coverages including but not limited to Buildings, Contents, Time Element (Business Income & Extra Expense, Loss of Rents for RE Owners), Flood Insurance, Tenant Improvements & Betterments, Builders Risk, Inland Marine (High Valued Medical Equipment, Vending Equipment, Fine Arts etc..), Cargo, Crime/Employee Dishonesty.
umbrella
An Umbrella liability policy increases liability limits
over the General Liability coverage, the Auto Liability coverage, and parts of the Workers Comp policy. Umbrella limits may be layered, or stacked, to increase limits. Umbrellas also provide some broadened coverages that "drop down" to
provide protection that may not exist in the primary policy. An Umbrella policy is always recommended, as is the protection of increased umbrella policy limits.
employment practices liability
Employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) is a type of liability insurance covering wrongful acts arising from the employment process. The most frequent types of claims covered under such policies include: wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation.
commercial auto
Liability and Physical Damage protection for commercially owned vehicles. Hired & Non-Owned Auto Liability. Uninsured & Underinsured Motorists coverage. Rental Reimbursement. Lease Gap coverage.
professional liability
Coverage for services performed, and for consulting, design and advice provided to others. While most often thought of as "malpractice" for medical professionals, dentists, accountants, and
lawyers, the fact is that Professional Errors and Omissions coverage is essential to any business providing any form of advice, consulting service, programming, design work or professional service to others.
Security & Privacy liability/Cyber Liability
Provides both First Party coverage (insurance for loss to the named insured) and Third Party coverage (insurance for loss to named insured's clients due to breach of network security etc..) with
several optional enhancements such as reimbursement coverage for the cost to notify clients of a security breach & cost to provide 12 months of credit monitoring for clients.
The above abbreviated coverage summary/listing cannot consider the exposures that can arise from the specialties of every business endeavor. With this in mind, we ask that you contact your specialist at C. H. Bonnett & Co., Inc. to arrange a careful discussion and review of the particular exposures inherent to your firm's operations. Additional information is available on each of the topics listed, including examples of losses, coverages, and other alternatives. We urge you to ask about the available coverages, with the understanding that even the most unusual and rare exposure is capable of ending the business operations of a very substantial and otherwise sound business.
